Darkfeather, Mona (n/d)

Actress. In the early days of the Western the Indian was not always  the savage menace that he would become in the 20s and later. Until around 191 5 the hero or heroine might well he an Indian, and players like James Young Deer or Mona Darkfeather were among the early Western stars. Darkfeather was a beautiful Seminole girl who worked for the Bison, Selig  and   Kalem  companies  in  her brief six-year career. That she achieved the ulti?mate accolade of the day - her name in the title - is a measure of her appeal.
