Devine, Andy (1905-76)
Actor. A great barrel of a? man with the scratchy, highpitched voice of a child. He played delight?fully?? infectious?? comic?? characters,??? most memorably?? as?? Buck,?? the?? stage-driver?? in Stagecoach. After a few small parts he landed a contract with Universal in 1930, where he stayed for seventeen years. In 1947 he moved to Republic, where he was given his first continuing sidekick role, Cookie Bullfincher in a Roy Rogers series. The coda of his cowboy career was in the Wild Bill Hickok television series, in which for over a hundred episodes he could be heard yelping, 'Hey, Wild Bill, wait for me!'
