Dickinson, Angie
Actress. The blonde and long-legged Dickinson's sexual allure has been exploited throughout her career. In the 50s she had a succession of bit parts in minor Westerns, in which she often played that archetypal Western character, the whore with the heart of gold. She dubbed Sarita Montiel on Run of the Arrow. In 1958 she was finally given a role, as Feathers in Hawks' Rio Bravo, in which she was allowed to display intelligence and humour as well as sexuality. Similar roles were not forthcoming, and she has featured in few Westerns since, although she gave notable performances in the comedy West?erns Sam Whiskey and Young Billy Young.
