Dix, Richard Print E-mail

Dix, Richard (1894 - 1949)

Dix, Richard Actor. Richard Dix's career in Westerns began at the top. Two years after entering films he played the lead in two Zane Grey movies directed by Victor Fleming for Paramount. That was in 1923, and Dix, a tough and sturdy character, remained a big name for a dozen years. He returned frequently to the Western, playing the?pioneer? Yancey?Cravat?in?the epic Cimarron in 1930, and another major lead in the 1935 The Arizonian, which had a script by Dudley Nichols. In Badlands of Dakota Dix was Wild Bill Hickok, and in Tombstone he was Wyatt Earp - not bad roles for a man nearing the end of his career
