Acord, Art (1890-1931) Actor. Acord had been an authentic cowpuncher, a champion bulldogger who could throw a steer in 24 seconds. He entered the movies in 1909 as a stuntman with Bison and Selig, and soon was acting, making films in winter when the rodeos shut down. In 191 5 he starred in the Buck Parvin series, little satires on Western film-making. He served with distinction in World War I, and made Western features through the 20s. But all went sour when he began to drink heavily and became a notor?ious brawler. Relegated from Universal to minor companies, he was involved in bootlegging, went briefly to jail, and then to Mexico. He did odd jobs, gambled and died, in Chihuahua, from cyanide poisoning.
