Armendariz, Pedro (1912-63)
This rs-educated Mexican actor
debuted in 1934 as a romantic lead in ranchero pictures and quickly achieved
stardom. Best known in Mexico for the classic melodramas in rural settings
directed by Emilio Fernandez, aka El Indio, co-starring Dolores del Rio, Armen?dariz
was typecast in Hollywood as a fiery mustachioed Latin.
His best work there was under
Ford's direction, notably as one of the Three Godfathers. Returning to Mexico,
he did Runnel's El bruto (1952)
and went on to a prolific international career that included work in France and
