Barker, Lex (1919-73)
?The athletic, bland and blond New York-horn actor took over the Tarzan persona from Johnny Weiss-muller in the late 40s. His prolific career started in 1946 and culminated in European adventure films, where he achieved a major success as Karl May's Aryan Ubermensch, Old Shatterhand, in a series of Euro-Westerns directed by Harald Reinl. His brief moment of cinematic respectability came when Fellini cast him in La dolce vita (1959>-Arlene Dahl and Lana Turner were among his five wives. He died of a heart attack in Hollywood.
