An accomplished actor, he had appeared in over forty films (only eight Westerns), before starring in his first series Western, Branded a Coward, at Supreme in 1935.?? For?? a?? series?? star?? Brown?? had?? the unusual?? combination?? of? athleticism?? and acting ability, which he brought to a wide range of roles at Supreme,? Republic and Universal.? In? the? 40s,? at? Monogram,? he played in a long series of films as (Marshal) Nevada?? John?? McKenzie,?? with?? Raymond Hatton as side-kick.
