?Actor. Brown was an athlete and a football player of some repute when he was signed by MGM in 1927. He was soon playing opposite some of Hollywood's???? leading???? ladies,???? including Garbo,??? Crawford,??? Marion??? Davies??? and Norma Shearer. An accomplished actor, he had appeared in over forty films (only eight Westerns), before starring in his first series Western, Branded a Coward, at Supreme in 1935.?? For?? a?? series?? star?? Brown?? had?? the unusual?? combination?? of? athleticism?? and acting ability, which he brought to a wide range of roles at Supreme,? Republic and Universal.? In? the? 40s,? at? Monogram,? he played in a long series of films as (Marshal) Nevada?? John?? McKenzie,?? with?? Raymond Hatton as side-kick.
