Calhoun, Rory (1922)

Tall, good-looking actor, best known for his Western roles although he has played in light comedy and drama. He got his movie break through a friendship with Alan Ladd, and his first starring role was in Way of a Qaucho. He then starred in a series of Westerns that made him one of the most popular Western stars of the mid-50s. Towards the end of the decade he began to produce some of his films, and he also co-wrote the Sterling Hayden Western Shotgun. In 1958 he starred in and co-produced the television Western series The Texan, which ran for two years.
