Calhoun, Rory (1922)
Tall, good-looking actor, best
known for his Western roles although he has played in light comedy and drama.
He got his movie break through a friendship with Alan Ladd, and his first
starring role was in Way of a Qaucho. He then starred in a series of
Westerns that made him one of the most popular Western stars of the mid-50s.
Towards the end of the decade he began to produce some of his films, and he
also co-wrote the Sterling Hayden Western Shotgun. In 1958 he starred in
and co-produced the television Western series The Texan, which ran for two
years.
