Chandler, Lane (1899-1972)
Actor. The claim in a recent
hook on the Western that Lane Chandler once starred opposite Garbo is
surprising and wrong. He was in The
Single Standard, hut hilled fifth. That was none the less a rare experience for
a man who spent nearly 40 years on the plains. Chandler played leads in silent
Westerns and in many B-films in the 50s,
and still had a quarter-century as a supporting actor in him. His better films
included Walsh's Pursued and Sirk's delightful Take Me to Town.
